Our district employs more than 1,900 staff members, including 1,200 Teachers. We are the second largest employer in Orange County, after UNC Chapel Hill. CHCCS has the lowest dropout rate in the state, one of the highest graduation rates, and the highest average SAT scores in North Carolina. At the middle and high school levels, 100% of our classes are taught by Highly Qualified Teachers, and 99% of our elementary teachers carry that designation. 43% of of our teachers hold advanced degrees, and about 200 are National Board Certified.
