  • Interview Fair for Prospective Teachers for the 2017-18 School Year
    On April 8, 2017, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools will host an Interview Fair for prospective teachers in 4 certification areas:

    1 - Elementary Education (K-5)
    2 - Exceptional Education (K-12 
    3 - Secondary Science (6-8 and 9-12)
    4 - Secondary Math (6-8 and 9-12)

    Fully licensed candidates applying to teach in one of the four designated licensure areas are invited to participate in the Interview Fair on Saturday, April 8 at Smith Middle School. All candidates may apply with the district, but only licensed candidates for these four assignments will be interviewed at the fair.
    Candidates must be fully licensed and highly qualified.  Lateral entry candidates will not be eligible to interview at the fair.  New graduates (May 2017) who will complete an approved teacher licensure program are eligible to attend. Out-of-state candidates who hold clear licenses in the home state and who have been designated as highly qualified in the home state are also eligible to attend.
    Pre-registration for the Interview Fair is required and will close on Wednesday, April 5 at 5:00 p.m.
    To pre-register, candidates should send a cover letter and resume to: mgunderson@chccs.k12.nc.us. Please list 2017 Interview Fair as the subject line of the message.
    Pre-registered candidates will receive a confirmation email, including an interview appointment time and other follow-up information.

  • Elementary Classroom and Exceptional Education Candidates Needed for 2016-17 School Year
    CHCCS has multiple elementary classroom and exceptional education teaching vacancies available for the 2016-17 school year. Specific job postings for each of our schools can be found at Chapel Hill-Carrboro Employment Application.

    Elementary candidates must be fully licensed and HIGHLY QUALIFIED. Lateral entry candidates will not be considered for classroom vacancies.

    Exceptional education Lateral entry candidates will be considered for EC vacancies as long as candidates have already completed the HIGHLY QUALIFIED testing requirements.

At the middle and high school levels, 100% of our classes are taught by Highly Qualified Teachers, and 99% of our elementary teachers carry that designation. 43% of of our teachers hold advanced degrees, and about 200 are National Board Certified.
