Introduction

Stanley used to be a regular boy until a bulletin board fell on him and flattened him. Now Stanley can do things other people can't. It's easy for Stanley to travel from place to place. All he has to do is to be folded up and placed in an envelope and he can be mailed anywhere. Since Stanley left us, he has traveled many places. He has met many people and has celebrated different holidays with his new friends. Let's find out about the places Stanley saw and the holidays he celebrated.

The Task

You will move through "Flat Stanley's Travels" and read the letters he sent us to learn about how some holidays are celebrated in different places in the world. Along the way you will answer questions and do some activities. After you read about all the holidays, you will make a KidPix picture about one of the holidays and write about something you learned. You will then write a letter to Stanley to suggest a place he should travel to next.

The Process

  • You and a partner will work at a computer to read letters from Flat Stanley, as well as information from websites, so you can learn about some holidays that he celebrated around the world.
  • You will answer questions and do activities about each holiday Stanley celebrated on his trip.
  • Your group will meet to discuss one of the holidays you have learned about.
  • Using KidPix, you will draw a picture of Flat Stanley celebrating that holiday.
  • You will write about Stanley's celebration.
  • You will write Stanley a letter and give him a suggestion about where you think he should travel next.

 Evaluation

As you go through this webquest, you will answer questions and check off what you accomplish on the "Flat Stanley Fact Sheet". You will make a KidPix picture about one of the holidays and write about something you learned. You will then write a letter to Stanley to suggest a place he should travel to next.
