Introduction

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in another country? Would the people look the same? Would the landforms look familiar? Would you wear the same clothing? Now is your chance to travel the continents of the world to find out...
Are we really that different?

Task

You are a travel agent with the Dolphin Discovery Travel Agency in Chapel Hill-Carrboro, North Carolina. You have been selected to travel to seven countries around the world to gain firsthand knowledge of the people, the geography, and the culture of these places.

For each country there will be websites and other media material available to help transport you to the specific countries, and to help you with your research. Because the websites that you will be looking at are not just for students, some of the reading might be challenging. We encourage you to use your classroom dictionary as an additional resource.

There will be questions for you to answer about your readings. Once your research has been completed, you will create a portfolio of your work and a slideshow about one of the countries that you have studied. In addition, you will be asked to complete one additional project from the projects listed below. A presentation of your research and your projects will culminate this world learning project.

So, pack your bags, and get ready for this trip of a lifetime!

Internet Activities

Our journey begins in Mexico. Look at the world map below and click on Mexico. Your global adventure begins...NOW!
