Driver Education

The recently adopted state budget restored Driver Education funding.  No fee will be charged for CHCCS students during the 2015-16 school year.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools offers Driver Education to its high school students through a private contractor, the Jordan Driving School of the Carolinas (JDS Carolinas).

Students take Driver Ed classes during after-school hours, on Saturdays, over holiday breaks, and during the Summer. These classes are offered one-time, free-of-charge for eligible students residing in the school district, including home-schooled and charter school students. The course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training, and an eye test.
